Kindergarten Bus Riders FAQ

If you have a kindergartener riding the bus for the first time, here is some important information:

It is Durham School Services policy that a parent or older sibling is present at the bus stop to receive kindergarten students. You may appoint an older sibling, adult neighbor, grandparent, etc.

It’s not required to call if your child will not be riding; however, we do appreciate the notification when possible. Please call 515-987-2788 in these circumstances.

Yes, bus services will be offered. The buses will run one hour late and approximately two hours early on those shortened kindergarten days. If the bus time you are assigned is 8:20 a.m., the bus will be at the stop at 9:20 a.m. In the afternoon, if your assigned time is 4 p.m., the bus will arrive at approximately 2 p.m. We encourage kindergarten riders to board the bus during these shortened days so they get used to it without the older students onboard.

If you have additional questions about your kindergarten rider, please check out this FAQ.
