Waukee Community Schools is a rapidly growing and increasingly diverse school district. We believe every individual’s unique background and culture enhance our schools. By focusing on the joy of learning and growth for everyone, we create a dynamic work environment for our staff while engaging our students, families, and the community through innovative educational experiences.
At Waukee Community School District, we are committed to providing all our students with the knowledge, experiences, and opportunities necessary to develop the competencies required for success in school, in the workforce, and in life.
As part of our commitment to the growth and success of our students and staff, our District finalized a strategic plan in January of 2020. The five-year strategic plan lays out the vision, mission, and priorities of the district and expands upon how these goals will be achieved in the years ahead.
Since then, many pieces of this plan have already been implemented, and our staff continues to do amazing work each day to provide our students with the best educational experiences.
Waukee Community School District follows the Marzano High Reliability Schools (HRS) framework. Based on more than 40 years of educational research, the HRS framework defines five progressive levels of performance that a school must master to become a high reliability school — where all students learn the content and skills they need for success in college, the workforce, and beyond.
The HRS framework provides indicators for our District and our schools to measure progress on five increasing levels of reliability:
1 — Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture
2 — Effective Teaching in Every Classroom
3 — Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum
4 — Standards-Referenced Learning
5 — Competency-Based Education
Waukee CSD is working to achieve the HRS levels, which will ensure all schools district-wide are similarly focused on the right work, exhibiting effective leadership, and improving student learning and achievement.
