At Waukee CSD, substitutes get a foot in the door of the fifth-largest district in the state. They customize their own schedules and establish contacts with principals as well as staff in an assortment of grade levels. More than 20% of new teacher hires come from our substitute pool.
Regardless of your level of education, you may still qualify to be a substitute teacher. Visit the Heartland Area Education Agency or the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners website for more information. Our substitute positions do not require a four-year degree.
Teacher & Nurse Substitute (prorated by the hour):
- $155/day
- After 100 workdays, $160 daily
- Retired Waukee teachers, $165 daily
- Long-term, BA Step 2 daily rate starting the 15th consecutive day
Special Education Associate & Secretary Substitute:
- $16/hour
- After 100 days worked, $17.00/hour
Non-Special Education Associate:
- $14.00/hour
- After 100 days worked, $14.50/hour
Food Service Substitute:
- $16.00/hour
Operations (Custodial) Substitute:
- $16.00/hour
