WCSD Graduation Rate Soars Above State Average
Waukee Community School District (CSD) takes pride in its staff and students for continuously rising above standards and surpassing the expectations given to them. Iowa’s high school graduation rate for 2021 was 90.2 percent, according to figures released by the Iowa Department of Education.
Waukee CSD is proud to excel beyond the state average with a 98.3 percent graduation rate for 2021, one of the highest in the state for a 5A district.
According to Superintendent Dr. Brad Buck, “The graduation rate is a great reminder that all of the parts of the organization impact the experiences of our students and the ultimate outcome which is graduation. While we would all desire a 100% graduation rate, it is worth taking a moment to appreciate the hard work behind these results from all our staff.”
Iowa graduation rates are calculated with a formula established by the U.S. Department of Education. Unique student identification numbers allow school districts to account for all ninth-grade students as they move through high school. At the state level, the method helps determine when a student graduates, even if the student has switched districts in Iowa during high school.
