Fingerprint Kit from the Iowa Attorney General’s Office

Iowa school districts have been provided at-home child ID kits from the Iowa Attorney General’s office in partnership with the National Child Identification Program, Alliant Energy, and MidAmerican Energy. Across America, 1,000 children go missing on average every day.

Beginning May 12, kits are being provided to all PK-12 students in Iowa to help identify your child(ren) should they ever go missing. Students in grades 10-12 may pick up a kit from their school’s main office.

Should you decide to complete this kit with your child(ren), it should take less than two minutes. The information never enters a database and should be stored solely by you, as a parent or guardian, in a cool, dry, safe place at home.

There is no obligation to fill out the kit. However, it will allow you to have your child(ren)’s vital information, fingerprints, and DNA in a safe place should the unthinkable happen. Please store these kits at home and only give them to law enforcement in an emergency.

The fingerprint kits are not sponsored by the Waukee Community School District. However, we are providing these kits to your family free of charge as they were supplied to us by the state. The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority for us.
