Waukee CSD Proposes New Boundaries Map
On Nov. 13, Waukee Community School District Superintendent Dr. Brad Buck presented the new boundaries map to the Waukee CSD School Board. This proposal is the culmination of months of planning, analysis, and consultation with the District’s expert demographers.
“The decision to revise our boundary map is never taken lightly, and I understand the challenges faced by the families who will be impacted by these changes,” Dr. Buck stated in an email to parents and staff. “However, I want to assure you this proposal was created with careful consideration and extensive research, all with the overarching goal of enhancing the quality of education we offer to our students.”

The proposed changes, which would take effect next fall (the 2024-2025 school year), are necessary to address issues such as overcrowding in some schools, planning for the opening of Waterford Elementary, and balancing student populations in our two feeders.
Throughout this process, the District is focused on three main priorities:
- Create and maintain a feeder for our 6-8, 9, and 10-12 buildings with long-term sustainability
- Balance our elementary schools in terms of class size, anticipated enrollment, and student demographics
- Balance the NWHS/WHS feeders with the same considerations
Waukee CSD is holding a community town hall on Thursday, Nov. 16, 6-7:30 p.m., at Waukee High School Auditorium, for families to learn more about the boundary changes.
