Preschool & Kindergarten Enrollment Begin for 2024-25 School Year
Enrollment begins Jan. 3, 2024, for our 2024-25 preschool and kindergarten programs. The process to register is different, so review the details carefully. Please share this information with friends and neighbors who are new to the Waukee Community School District family.
2024-25 Preschool Enrollment
Preschool enrollment begins Jan. 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. At that time, you can click the purple “Register Now” button below to learn more and begin the enrollment process. Preschool enrollment is completely online through PowerSchool Registration.
All incoming students must be four years old on or before Sept. 15, 2024, to attend. The Waukee CSD preschool program meets at Vince Meyer Learning Center four days weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There is a morning session, which meets from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and an afternoon session, which meets from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Caregivers will be provided an opportunity to share their preference on session time after your application has been accepted. The Statewide Voluntary Preschool Grant funds this program, which allows families to attend tuition-free.
Daily Preschool Activities Include:
- Large and small group activities
- Self-directed play
- Centers (arts, science, writing, games/put-together toys, books, blocks/wheel toys, pretend play)
- Storytime
- Snack
- Individual learning

2024-25 Kindergarten Enrollment
If you have a child who will be five years old on or before Sept. 15, 2024, it’s time to submit the required enrollment paperwork to the District Office.
Beginning Jan. 3, 2024, you can submit papers in the black drop box in the District Office parking lot (560 SE University Avenue) or email your documents to enrollment@waukeeschools.org. If you’re sending via email, please scan documents (PDFs) and do not send photos or images.
Please note, current preschool students at Vince Meyer Learning Center do not need to register for kindergarten. Those students will be part of returning student enrollment, which occurs in the Spring.
Kindergarten registration timeline:
- Jan. 3 – The District Office begins accepting all paperwork (cover sheet, proof of residency, home language survey, immunization record, etc.).
- March 20 – In addition to submitting your required paperwork, you must complete a portion of kindergarten enrollment online through our data system — PowerSchool. You’ll receive details on completing online enrollment on March 20 to the email inbox listed on your cover sheet around 10 a.m.
- Early April – Child care enrollment opens for current and new families for Beyond the Bell and the YMCA before/after school program. Look for more information on our website and dates to come later.
