Waukee CSD Announces New Shuler Elementary Principal
Pending Board approval, Waukee Community School District is pleased to welcome Dr. Ryan Marzen as the new principal at Shuler Elementary.
Dr. Marzen is currently the principal at Perry Elementary School, which enrolls over 900 students. Under his leadership, Perry Elementary School was named a 2023 Blue Ribbon School, an award given to exemplary high performing schools in Iowa.
In his career, Dr. Marzen has also served as an associate principal, first grade teacher, and head coach for cross country and track and field. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University, his master’s in educational administration from South Dakota State University, and his Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Drake University.
“I was drawn to Waukee because of the growing school district coupled with the school pride that emanates from those employed within the District,” Dr. Marzen said. “In addition, Waukee is an innovative school district known for having a strong foundation of excellence in education.”
“I look forward to being part of a great team at Shuler while getting to know all the students, staff, and families that I will serve,” he added.
Dr. Marzen will succeed Dr. Joel Fey, who will become the principal at the new Waterford Elementary when it opens this upcoming school year.
