Get to know Principal Barnhouse
Welcome to Brookview! My name is Derek Barnhouse, and I am honored to serve as interim principal at Brookview Elementary.
Previously, I was the assistant principal at Brookview, along with a 2nd and 4th grade teacher here in the Waukee Community School District. I completed my undergraduate degree at Luther College and my master’s degree in school administration at Drake University. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our (nearly) three-year-old son.
Students, and the positive relationships we hope to build with them and their families, are at the heart of our work here at Brookview. We believe in the leadership of all students and the importance of making a positive impact on the world around us.
