Get to know Principal Lancaster

On behalf of our amazing staff, welcome to Timberline Middle School! My name is Alex Lancaster, and I’m honored to serve as the principal of TMS as we transition into a 6th–8th grade building. I’m a proud Waukee High School graduate and feel incredibly fortunate to now work in the district that helped shape me. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Creighton University, then went on to earn a Master’s in Teaching, a Master’s in Educational Leadership, and a Specialist’s degree with Superintendent Licensure from Drake University. I’m currently pursuing my doctorate at Drake as well.

I began my career as a middle school math and social studies teacher before moving into building leadership roles, including serving as a 7–12 principal and an associate principal at the high school level. I’m passionate about supporting students and staff and excited to help build strong systems and a positive culture here at Timberline. My focus is on creating a culture where every student and staff member feels a strong sense of belonging from day one.

My husband, Joe, and I live in Waukee with our three boys, who all attend Waukee Schools. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, boating, swimming, or finding a good series to binge on Netflix. I’m proud to call this community home and thrilled to be part of Timberline’s journey.
